Jahresmotto: Vidimus! – We have seen! – Wir haben gesehen!

Bible verse for December 2020: Mt 25, 40

„Whatever you have done for one of these little ones, you have done it to me.“

Impulse:

A strange year is coming to an end for all of us. Who would have thought in January that a worldwide pandemic could change our lives so much in such a short time? As we approach Christmas and a new year, we can ask ourselves the question: What remains at the end of all what we have experienced? What leaves me with beautiful pictures and gratitude, what perhaps has a bitter taste and still needs healing?
This year, as a social youth movement, we meditated on the “Works of Mercy”. Maybe these words of Jesus can serve us as a benchmark to consciously look back and see: which people have left traces in my heart? And where do I want to grow next year? In this way we learn to be benevolent and humane with ourselves and others. Especially in this special time we can become a light for society.

Jahresmotto: Vidimus! – We have seen! – Wir haben gesehen!

Bible verse for November 2020: Mt 25, 35

„I was hungry and you gave me to eat.“

Impulse:

We live in a time of “social distancing”: Much of what has made up our everyday life and also our commitment to socially disadvantaged people is not possible in the usual form now. In this situation, the question can quickly arise: “Does it even make sense to get involved, if in the end perhaps everything cannot be realised as desired?” I believe that it is especially important in times of uncertainty to remember what our heart actually burns for and with whom we have already had the experience that our hunger for life and love is satisfied. During this month let us consciously seek contact with our companions so that we carry each other through the time of crisis and do not lose sight of anyone. I am sure that our hunger for community and life will be a good guide to us, so that we can keep our distance, but be close in our hearts and have an experience of hope with one another and connected with Jesus.

Anual Motto: Vidimus! – We have seen! – Wir haben gesehen!

„I was a stranger and homeless but you took me in.“

Impulse:

Whoever walks through the world with open eyes will find that there is much injustice, both large and small: Poverty, exclusion, homelessness… I’m sure you can think of many more examples from your surroundings. The challenge is clear: there is still much to do in the social field. In the spirit of our socioMovens movement we are committed to making our society more humane and just, at least in our immediate surroundings. But as a social and Christian youth movement we are not only concerned with material help. Rather, we want others, especially the disadvantaged, to feel that they are accepted as human beings, taken seriously, and valued. For this we don’t need many resources, just open eyes and an open heart. In the words of Jesus, this benevolent and inviting attitude would probably be called “love”. Let us dare this loving look, so that no one must feel strange, excluded, insignificant.
