Be a light of peace! (After the song “Accendi la pace” by Gen Verde)

Holy Scripture: Ps 34:15

Seek peace and pursue it!”

Impulse:

You can sometimes get the impression that we live in a rather warlike and restless world. This applies to the major regions of conflict but also to our coexistence in society, where it sometimes goes like “everyone against everyone”. I ask myself, what happened to the great promise of peace that we hear in the Bible? The word from the psalms may perhaps give us a direction: if I really want to make peace, then I’ll start with myself. Peace is more than just giving up violence. It is an attitude of life in which I benevolently treat others and respect them as valuable people, especially the poor and disadvantaged. That’s sometimes hard to do on your own. That’s why we have to look for allies on this path. An ally who always supports us is God himself. With an ancient prayer, we can turn to Him: “Lord, make me a tool of your peace!”. This is how we become bright lights in an often warlike world.

“Made to be played!” (After the song by Gen Verde)

Holy Scripture: Ephesians 4: 3

Seek to save the Unity of the Spirit

Impulse:

After an exciting football game, it is often analyzed which players deserve special credit for the victory, who were the “playmakers”. However, the scorers themselves often say: without the cooperation of the whole team their success would not have been possible. Only if a player constantly pays attention to where his teammates are standing and has open eyes for the whole of the game, he moves forward. You could almost say that he plays well only if he lets himself be played by the rhythm of the game and his colleagues.

I think that’s a nice analogy to our everyday life and to our coexistence: we can only achieve the real good if we allow ourselves to be addressed by others and have open eyes and wide hearts for them. Only then does a creative “interaction” arise: the hardships and worries of life keep their seriousness, but if we share them and carry them together, they may lose their horrors.

„I’ve got Hope!“ (according to “I’ve got Hope” by Gen Verde)

Holy Scripture: 1 Peter 3,16

“Always be ready to answer every one who will ask you about the hope that fills you.”

Impulse:
“What do I want to achieve in my life?” – You have already asked this question for sure. And you will have noticed: there are quite different answers. There are e.g. ideas about the future job, the place where you want to live but also personal issues, such as the question of family and real friendships. In other words, what is your hope for your life, what gives you strength?

Sharing our dreams of living with other people creates a sustainable community. Do you know people with whom you can share your hopes and dreams? It is worth to be open for these encounters. Perhaps by sharing our hopes, we may even have an experience with Jesus who wants to give us a deep hope for our lives.
